If you rely solely on your GPS to navigate around your new city, it’s going to take a long time to wean yourself off of it and actually figure out where things are in your town. Every time you use your GPS to get to a place you’ve already been, that new town could feel a little more foreign and a little less familiar. Break that cycle and start walking, biking, or running.
Take Care of Your Sleep and Diet, and the Rest will Take Care of Itself
Sleep and diet are two of the first things to fly out the window during the move. If you’re moving across the country, that might be particularly true. You might be spending some lonely nights in hotels, eating quick meals and waking up early to hit the road.
Of course, it doesn’t have to be that way. During your move, focus on getting a healthy diet with three balanced meals per day. Bring snacks on the road and drink water. At night, make sure you get your full 8 hours of sleep – even if that means you’ll arrive at your next destination a little later than scheduled.
It’s amazing how quickly the rest of your life seems to fall into place after you’ve nailed down your sleep and diet.
Understand That Nobody Has a Stress-Free Move
Even the most perfect human beings in the world get stressed during a cross-country move. You might practice yoga four times per day and get 8 hours of sleep every night – but there are still some parts of your move that are going to stress you out.
That’s just the reality of dealing with moving. You’re probably going to have a moment of high nerves during the moving process. When that happens, don’t beat yourself up: everybody has moments like that – even if they don’t admit it.
