1280px-Soul_Food_at_Powell's_PlaceThey say the eyes are the windows to the soul, but the way to most people’s hearts is through their stomachs. There is something very special about celebrating life by enjoying a memorable meal with the person you love, family or friends.

If you’re lucky enough to be living in Columbus GA, you have an enviable selection of places to dine, and we’ve included four of our personal favorites here. Being movers is hungry work, and when in Columbus GA, our crews like to refuel with great food served by great establishments.

Minnie’s Uptown Restaurant

Minnie’s is a great contrast to the restaurants of the world that offer haute cuisine to fussy gourmands. Don’t get me wrong, the food served at Minnie’s is absolutely delicious. But, it avoids being pretentious and just focuses on causing a flavor explosion for your taste buds instead.

In true Southern style, the most popular dish served here is the fried chicken, but there are lots of other favorites on offer, too. It includes many of the homely dishes you remember from your childhood!

We also love eating here because the staff is so friendly, but, again, that’s just the southern hospitality shining through.

Burt’s Butcher Shoppe

The name of this diner isn’t just a clever play on old world English – it’s actually part of a butcher’s shop, so have the benefit of eating fresh meat directly from the source instead of wondering where your steak may come from.

We’re not going to pull any punches here, or waste your time – Burt’s is all about fantastic steaks at affordable prices. This is a carnivore’s paradise, and the steaks are so good they might even tempt a vegetarian or two over to the “dark” side. Burt’s offers a great dining experience, and is very family-friendly, too.

The Black Cow

Have you been looking for a meal you’ll remember for a long time to come? If so, the staff at The Black Cow will be more than happy to make that happen for you. It might sound odd, but customers rave about the staff here as much as they do the food.

This restaurant serves Southern cuisine as you might expect, but it’s quick to avoid any potential steakhouse stereotypes by also offering its guests a range of seafood and a mouth-watering selection of drinks.

The Black Cow is open Monday through Saturday and is closed all day Sunday.

This isn’t the biggest restaurant in Columbus, but it is one of the most popular, and the owner, Skipper, is as responsible for that popularity as his food is.

If you’re looking for fancy silverware and expensive décor, you’re in the wrong place. If you’ve been searching for some of the best seafood you’ve ever tasted, Skippers Seafood Fresh Market should be at the top of your list of eateries.

Skipper’s is a warm and inviting diner with a no-frills approach to serving great food. Dining at Skipper’s is like dining with your own family – you really do feel that welcome.

So there you have it – our top four eateries in Columbus GA. There’s something here to suit every palette and budget, so why not start at the top of the list and just work your way down – you’ll be glad you did.
