Macy's_SantaLand_(Portland,_OR,_2008)The days are growing shorter and the evenings are getting colder. You know what that means– winter is here. The silver lining? We know that Christmas is right around the corner, too.

What better place to celebrate the holiday season than in the picturesque town of Auburn? Here, residents have a whole calendar of festive entertainment.

Here are some of the biggest crowd movers in Auburn AL during in the lead-up to Christmas.

Polar Express

Your kids will enjoy hours of fun when they jump on the Polar Express “train” ride. The Polar Express departs at 10am and 1pm on December 5th from the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center.

To set the scene kids can wear their favorite festive pajamas, and there’s lots of indoor and activities for them to take part in. No Christmas event is complete without sweets and treats, so there are plenty of those on offer, too.

Tickets cost $10 per child, and please do book them as soon as you can – this event typically sells out very quickly.

Annual Cookie Walk

This is a festive fundraiser your whole family can take part in, and a popular one, too. It’s now in its 20th year. How would you like to choose from over 30,000 home-baked cookies, knowing that every cent you spend goes to support the Habitat for Humanity charity in building a home for a needy family right here in Auburn?

Santa has even promised us he’ll make an appearance on December 5th during the Cookie Walk. This event starts at 8am and finishes at 1pm, so why not drop by the Grace United Methodist Church on Glenn Avenue to join in the fun?

Breakfast with Santa Buffet

If you were asked what your perfect Christmas day looks like, would it include a tasty breakfast of pastries, waffles, hash browns and fresh fruit, cookies, hot chocolate and a special showing of the movie ‘Frozen’?

You might think we were reading your mind, but we’re just reminding you about the ‘Breakfast with Santa’ buffet taking place on December 12th at the Marriot at Grand National. Santa and The Snow Queen will also be attending, so make sure you reserve your place today.

Tickets for kids under 5 cost $6.99, while all other tickets cost $15.95.

Holly Jolly Mixology Class

Your mom and dad have been working hard all year to help create the perfect Christmas for you, so maybe it’s time for them to treat themselves to an evening of festive cocktails. Not only will they get to enjoy tasting cocktails, but they’ll also learn how to mix their own.

The Holly Jolly Mixology Class takes places on December 16th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Tickets cost $55 per person and doors open at 5:30pm. Oh, and everyone who attends a class will take a special gift home with them at the end of the evening.

Children’s Gingerbread Class

Nothing says “Christmas” quite like a gingerbread house. From December 19th to December 22nd, your little ones can learn how to craft their very own gingerbread creation under the guidance of Sous Chef, Brand Burleson.

After they have learned how to create this special holiday treat they can gather round Santa as he tells lots of heart-warming holiday stories.

The class costs $35 per child, and everything they need, including refreshments, is provided.

There are lots of other Christmas activities taking places in Auburn during the holiday season, including the Auburn Christmas Parade on December 11th and a special showing of The Polar Express at Fran Brown Recreation Center on December 6th. In fact, there’s so much going on in Auburn during the holiday season it would take all day to share it with you!
